Visit the Lerins Islands this summer!

Rent a boat from Cannes and visit the Lerins Islands for a day of exploration and relaxation. These are 4 small tranquil Mediterranean islands just a 15 minute boat ride from Cannes. The two largest islands in this group are the Île Sainte-Marguerite and the Île Saint-Honorat. They are beautiful, unspoilt islands, known for there clear blue waters between the islands that is very popular for snorkelling. This water attracts many yachts on their journey wanting to give them a sense of paradise. Spend a day on the island, have a picnic and find one of its majestic secret beaches. A fantastic way to spend a day exploring with family and friends to get away from the busy cites of the French Riviera. These islands have a lot of history dating back to roman times. The Île Sainte-Marguerite held a fortress where The Man in the Iron Mask was held captive for a time. It took him 11 years to finally leave this tiny, forested island. His cell can be visited in the Fort of St Marguerite, now renamed the Musée de la Mer (Museum of the Sea). This museum also houses archaeological discoveries from shipwrecks off the coast of the island, including Roman and Saracen ceramics. This is a great place for tourists who have an interest in history. So rent a semi rigid boat from Cannes or rent a motor boat for a day on your next trip to the French Riviera!
