PHUKET CAPE – KING’S CUP 2012 REGATTA EVENT
Fancy planning a sailing holiday in Thailand? We've found the perfect event to kick-off your stay!
The King’s Cup regatta event is due to be held this December off of Phuket cape, with the opening ceremony taking place on the 3rd. According to its official site this 5 day bonanza of sailing in Thailand is Asia’s ‘biggest and most popular’ regatta event.
The King’s Cup in Phuket was originally inaugurated in 1987 for the 60th birthday of his Majesty the King of Thailand and has been held every year since in the first week of December. With 5 days of intense sailing across several sail disciplines, this event is sure to provide excitement to everyone’s tastes. As well as the usual events, one can expect windsurfing to make it back into the regatta programme this year, with top windsurfing stars participating in the event.
The regatta event in Thailand has also attracted strong new sponsorship interest for the 2012 edition, with the PTT Group, Singha Corporation, AIA Thailand and Thaioil all jumping on board with their support.
